On March 19, I went to see Dr. Peck for the second time. This time he did all my blood work, and I'm glad to have that out of the way! He said that everything with little p looked good. We were able to have another ultrasound. We got to hear the heartbeat that time too...a great experience! There is something that is just so incredibly precious about seeing "your little baby" moving all around and seeing and hearing the heart beating. Absolutely a miracle! Little p's heart rate was, the first time he checked it at this visit 155ish and the second time he checked it - just a few minutes later, was fluctuating between 160 and 168. Maybe little p was just completely excited that mama and papa Nichols got to see him/her and listen to the heartbeat as well. =) That was cool. My blood pressure was 115/71 - I'm just hoping it will hold this through the rest of the time. My cousin, Sarah Ann, just had a little baby boy on the 20th and before he was born, she was put on bed rest because of her BP. :( Little p now measures in at 3 inches from head to rump...maybe a little more by now! As you can see in the pictures, little p has grown quite a bit in the time between doctor appointments. My next appointment is scheduled for April 30. At that appointment, Dr. Peck said he should be able to tell the sex of the baby! Let's hope little p cooperates!

Happy Easter! (im only 6 days late)
Sorry for the foggy picture...when you have the camera inside in the AC and then take it outside, it takes time to adjust to the humidity...we didn't give it time. Oh well, at JCPenney's we would call this "soft focus." :)
Easter Sunday just happened to be Nate's 18th birthday. We didn't have too big a celebration, but did have ice cream pies (turtle or hershey's chocolate)! Nate, hope your birthday was a great one!

more company :)
On Good Friday, our good friend Nathan Bailey flew in to see us for his spring break. He has been having a great time (as have we) snorkeling, eating, swimming, sleeping, eating, eating...get the picture?! He flies out tomorrow afternoon after church... When you see him, be sure to ask about his sunburn! :)
Finally...another post!
My daddy and I :)

hahaha - sorry mom...
My mother had to speak at a "prayer breakfast" on the last Saturday of Easter Convention. She found this out on Wednesday or something like that and she said it was going to ruin the rest of the time here just knowing that she'd have to do it! She did a really good job and we were very proud of her!

They're here!! :)
Just a note to let you know that my parents made it safely here today around 12:30 PM. They are exhausted and are sleeping now so hopefully that will give them a start at catching up on some much needed sleep! I will post pictures soon, I promise!

Sad Story
With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, it is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person, which almost went unnoticed last week.
Larry LaPrise, the man that wrote 'The Hokie Pokey' died peacefully at the age of 93. The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin. They put his left leg in. And then the trouble started.
Shut up. You know it's funny. Now send it on to someone else and make them smile.

BBQ Pork Ribs
Of all the grilling I've done over the past few years, I'd never before grilled ribs of any kind, let alone a whole rack of ribs. After making a seasoning concoction I found online, I slapped these suckers on the grill and waited for around 75 minutes. I have now come to the conclusion that nothing is as easy to grill as ribs. The rack of ribs is pork and the remainder of the ribs are beef. Another conclusion: pork ribs are far better than beef ribs. My father agrees.

Funny story of the recipe: While looking online for a recipe for ribs that looked appealing, I came across the one I ended up using. After reading it and deciding to use it, I noticed that the author of the recipe had a hometown of Lima, OH. I then checked the profile and she now lives in Cairo, OH, which is very close to where Val grew up. Weird, that all the way down here I would just happen to find and decide to use a rib recipe from someone so near "home."
You women should be proud. =)
