up close and personal...

more Aubrey...

Me trying to assure Aubrey that I know what I'm doing in the diaper department. Or maybe I was trying to assure myself and just playing it off by telling her all about it.

Mommy trying to disguise her inspection of Daddy's work by snuggling with Aubrey.

So cute. And my arm didn't even get tired. Honestly. Okay, so maybe it did a little, but it's definitely acceptable pain.

Sleeping peacefully in Mommy's arms.

It's amazing how much they change and how quickly! She's such a good baby. We're hoping that doesn't change. =)

Good family shot.

Miss Samms, Miss Blake & Miss Mazie came over Friday afternoon to see Aubrey. They had so much fun meeting her and it was fun to watch them. Aubrey has three very dependable "aunties" next door. =)

Introducing Aubrey Nicole!

Around 8:45, we arrived at the hospital to get things moving. We settled in to the room, and they hooked up two monitoring thingies. One monitored Aubrey's heartbeat and the other watched for contractions.

We passed quite a bit of time by playing Rook. We dealt in a third hand for "the dummy" - and he came in a close third. You Rook players will appreciate this... the dummy led off with a trump card every single hand!

Before too long, Val began to have pains. Of course, right? Well, anyway, I thought I would snap this pic of me doing my "Daddy Duty" for the moment - rubbing her back.

During probably the most intense pre-baby labor (if that makes sense), Val enjoyed the nitrous oxide. I took a whiff of it myself... good stuff! It really took the edge off of the pain for Val.

Here is our main man - Dr. Peck. A world-renowned (literally) doctor and a mean squash player. While he was suiting up for delivery, Val said, "Take a picture of Dr. Peck. He looks cute." This comment came during some intense pain... so, I took the picture. After all, it was my "duty."

After the delivery, we got a great shot of our fam with Doc. Notice how Aubrey was aware of her first publicity shot... she waved to y'all!

Happy Grandparents!

Her pediatrician - Dr. Gordon Smith. He's from Scotland and is cool.

Soon after things had quieted down somewhat. Val was AMAZING through the whole thing! I could not say enough to describe how awesome she was. So I won't try. Just amazing.

8 pounds 4.5 ounces
22 inches long
lots of dark hair

Grandpa P got her attention pretty quickly.

I must admit I'm a proud dad. I'll be on "Daddy Duty" any day of the week. This was my first time to hold her. Awesome!

Tuckered out. And I didn't even have the baby! But I had been on my feet for about 10 hours, so cut me some slack, eh?

Grandma P gets a turn.

Mammaw, Mama, Mamma, take your pick gets her turn.

Look at that hair! Quite long in the back...

Pappaw, Papa, Pappa, again, take your pick got his turn, too!

Amazing stuff.... Aubrey Nicole Profitt - our gift from God.

Happy Birthday, MOM!!! Hope you have a very nice and relaxing day. Who knows, maybe your 5th granddaughter will be born on your birthday...that'd be pretty cool, huh?! Can't wait to see you tomorrow. Love you bunches!

Please take notice of the poll on the right side of our blog. Val and I were discussing whether or not it was rude to use the restroom at a gas station, fast-food place, etc. without purchasing something from the business. We can't seem to agree on this, so we are turning to you, our blog viewers.

Please answer the poll only one time, and even though I put the "maybe" answer, don't choose that. Just make a call one way or the other.

Thanks.

A package!!

We were very excited on Tuesday to find out that there was a package waiting for us at the post office. This is the first package we have received since being here, as it is really expensive to send things that way. Various people have sent things, just not by mail (like through other people coming down, etc.). It was from my dad's oldest brother and his wife, Uncle Jerry and Aunt Donna. Thanks so much for the gifts, we love them!!

A very cute little onesie

A beautiful quilt!

Thanks again!!!!!

Yesterday afternoon my mother-in-law went down to West Bay beach with us and took some pictures. I'm sure these will be the last ones like this pre-baby!

38 weeks and 1 day

I've been staying very busy with school and that is making the time fly by so quickly. I cannot believe that we are due to have our little one any day now. Every day gets a little harder to climb those stairs to my classroom or jump when a child needs something. I'm getting anxious to hold my little girl in my arms soon!

Today I gave Adam his last pre-baby haircut.

The dresser

Setting up the crib

The finished product!

Step One: clearing out and painting

Wow, our place was such a mess when we cleared out the guest room to make it "her" room. It went from a very nice orange to a very light pink! What a difference. =)
