Introducing Aubrey Nicole!

Around 8:45, we arrived at the hospital to get things moving. We settled in to the room, and they hooked up two monitoring thingies. One monitored Aubrey's heartbeat and the other watched for contractions.

We passed quite a bit of time by playing Rook. We dealt in a third hand for "the dummy" - and he came in a close third. You Rook players will appreciate this... the dummy led off with a trump card every single hand!

Before too long, Val began to have pains. Of course, right? Well, anyway, I thought I would snap this pic of me doing my "Daddy Duty" for the moment - rubbing her back.

During probably the most intense pre-baby labor (if that makes sense), Val enjoyed the nitrous oxide. I took a whiff of it myself... good stuff! It really took the edge off of the pain for Val.

Here is our main man - Dr. Peck. A world-renowned (literally) doctor and a mean squash player. While he was suiting up for delivery, Val said, "Take a picture of Dr. Peck. He looks cute." This comment came during some intense pain... so, I took the picture. After all, it was my "duty."

After the delivery, we got a great shot of our fam with Doc. Notice how Aubrey was aware of her first publicity shot... she waved to y'all!

Happy Grandparents!

Her pediatrician - Dr. Gordon Smith. He's from Scotland and is cool.

Soon after things had quieted down somewhat. Val was AMAZING through the whole thing! I could not say enough to describe how awesome she was. So I won't try. Just amazing.

Aubrey Nicole Profitt
born 9/24/08 6:32pm
8 pounds 4.5 ounces
22 inches long
lots of dark hair

Grandpa P got her attention pretty quickly.

I must admit I'm a proud dad. I'll be on "Daddy Duty" any day of the week. This was my first time to hold her. Awesome!

Tuckered out. And I didn't even have the baby! But I had been on my feet for about 10 hours, so cut me some slack, eh?

Grandma P gets a turn.

Mammaw, Mama, Mamma, take your pick gets her turn.

Look at that hair! Quite long in the back...

Pappaw, Papa, Pappa, again, take your pick got his turn, too!

Amazing stuff.... Aubrey Nicole Profitt - our gift from God.

Congratulations on your beautiful baby girl!! I love all the hair. Just 3-4 more days and Justin and Natasha's Madelynn Grayce will make her entrance. We can't wait!!

I was so glad to wake up and see pics of Aubrey today! Congratulations to both of you! Adam, your post was great...just reminded me of the differences between men and women...facts vs. detail! :) It has been great being able to talk to mom, even though the connection was horrible. Don't know what I would have done without it!
Valerie is such a trooper...childbirth makes you realize you are capable of more than you thought possible! They say every one is different. You cannot predict how things are going to go (I'm sure she never would have predicted being without an epidural!), but she made it, and I'm super proud of her strength through it all. Love to all three of you!

Congratulations!!!! She is a doll! I love her name. Aubrey was on our list of names for a girl also, but Chastity won out! Enjoy every minute with her; I'm finding out that they don't stay little for long!

Glad to hear all went well for you Val. Childbirth is a wonderful experience, if not a little painful. But that soon goes away and the end result is well worth it! Enjoy!!!

I'm so excited that she is finally here! Stephanie was keeping me updated...until about midnight last night. It seems unreal that you're a mommy now! I can remember not going to see President Regan...just so I could stay at Grandma Yount's house to hold you(as a baby)! You spit up on me about a dozen times, but I loved holding you anyway! Ha! Congrats! I absolutely love her name...it's beautiful! I can't wait to meet her. Love you guys!

Greg & Stephanie said...

Yeah, Andrea, and I remember being so mad at you cause you wouldn't go with me to see the President. I mean, who would want to skip seeing Reagan to stay home with a baby, anyway! LOL! I guess I was just used to having her around. Oh, the memories! By the way, if you'll go to the craft show with me, we can go to Taco Bell and drink all the Dr. Pepper our tanks can hold...PLEASE???? Ooops, I guess we should have our conversations on our own blogs, or something...heehee...

Val and Adam, Congratulations! I am so happy for you! Thanks for the update and pictures! It was so hard knowing that it was happening, but not knowing what was going on. I was thinking and praying all day. Thankfully, Stephanie let me know that she had arrived (thanks to her status on facebook). Thanks Stephanie!!

She is so precious! I can't wait to meet her at Christmas time (and spoil her rotten, of course). And Val, I'm proud of you. You did it!!

May God continue to bless and help all of you during this new phase of life. Love you guys!

P.S. What a perfect middle name :-)
